The whole country is watching the terrible situation of Sylhet through the media. So far, more than 6 unions of 10 upazilas and different areas of Sylhet metropolis have been flooded. In the district, 1,421 hectares of Aus paddy seedbed and 1604 hectares of Boro crop and 1,334 hectares of summer vegetables have been submerged. Ponds and reservoirs in the flood-hit areas have been flooded and a large number of fish have been washed away. 640 educational institutions have been flooded. Most of the flood-affected educational institutions are closed. The communication system is broken. At least 10 to 12 lakh people are stranded. Four people have died in the floods so far.
